On the plane ✈️ home a couple weeks ago from dropping my 2nd oldest at college, I read an entire book. I read this book the way I think it could be read: a fast overview. Brave Not Perfect by Reshma Saujani. I didn’t have to read every example to lean in to the one big idea: to live with more authentic joy, I get to drop perfectionism and be BRAVE!
For me that means don’t overthink, don’t over prepare. It means listen to my own intuition and trust that I know what I’m talking about! It means charging what I’m worth, and do more adventure stuff! I realized being perfect is boring. I love my (and your) messy life!
I’ve already done a whole lot of brave stuff when I think about it: quit several high paying careers because they were toxic in relationships or philosophy. Single mom without pulling the covers over my head in defeat. Put myself out there on online dating—(terrifying yet so worth it!) just to name a few.
What’s being BRAVE mean to you?! Anyone else want to build your bravery muscle with me? Pretty sure bravery feeds on itself—I am freaking blessed to already have some super brave friends that constantly do semi dangerous stuff. Like bungee jumping or ride bikes across America, even my own 75-year young mother proclaimed recently she wants to skydive! I am inspired by my people!
Whose with me? What brave leap are you taking TODAY? I want to know what you’re choosing to do! Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and let me cheer you on.
P.S. I have SO MANY GAZILLION books that I want to read, I get to overview them to get the one big idea! Are you a book nut like me? Click here to checkout my recommended reading list.
